Over the last 18 months, the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region has seen an increase of 53% in transmission and distribution tenders taking the total to 165.
According to APICORP, the region will need to install 88GW of generation capacity over the next 5 years keep up with demand. This translates to approximately USD 68 billion being designated for transmission & distribution (T&D).
In order to sustain this growth, the value of digital systems has become increasingly relevant especially to the T&D side of the power business. The ability to adjust business models effectively will determine which companies can prosper within the competitive energy landscape. In order to thrive in the new era, utilities will be required to embrace digital technologies and adapt to a customer centric business model.
