Nawah Energy Company, United Arab Emirates

Ali Al Hammadi was appointed the Chief Executive Officer of the Nawah Energy Company, the operating and maintenance subsidiary of the Emirates Nuclear Energy Corporation (ENEC), in April 2020. Al Hammadi is responsible for leading Nawah’s team of professionals in commissioning, operating and maintaining the four units of the Barakah Nuclear Energy Plant, and enhance human capacity and technical capabilities across the organization, in adherence to the highest standards of nuclear safety, quality and security.

Before being appointed CEO, Al Hammadi served as Nawah’s Chief Program Transition Officer, and was responsible for leading the transition of the Barakah Nuclear Energy Plant from the construction phases to operations.

Prior to joining Nawah, Al Hammadi served as the Chief Engineering and Construction Officer in ENEC’s Chief Program Office (CPO), and the Executive Director of Engineering and Technical Services (ETS). In these roles, Al Hammadi was responsible for leading the Engineering, Quality Surveillance, Material Management and Engineering Support divisions, and spearheading the career development of the talented UAE National engineers and construction professionals in the department.

Al Hammadi commenced his career as an Inspection Engineer at Abu Dhabi Gas Industries Ltd. (GASCO), before rising to the position of Senior Project Engineer and eventually a Project Manager within GASCO.

Ali Al Hammadi holds a Bachelor’s of Science in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Colorado at Boulder, USA, and has completed various professional training courses in nuclear energy and construction at internationally acclaimed institutions, including the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), Institute of Nuclear Power Operations, FLUOR Engineering, and others.
