The World Utilities Congress 2023 returned to Abu Dhabi this week, hosted by the Abu Dhabi National Energy Company (TAQA) and organised by dmg events. The three-day exhibition and congress brought together over 250 industry expert speakers and hosted more than 60 strategic and technical conference sessions, including a Nuclear Energy Forum. Drawing over 10,000 industry professionals and 150+ exhibiting companies from across the globe, the global conference and exhibition highlighted the very latest in global innovations, technology solutions and proactive measures aimed at securing the future of sustainable and affordable power and water supplies. An integral theme throughout the congress was the role played by power and water utilities in supporting decarbonisation of industry and the path to net-zero.

Successfully returning to the UAE capital for the second year, the World Utilities Congress 2023 opened to thousands of delegates, industry specialists, and global leaders from the power and water industries convening to address challenges and explore solutions to deliver secure, sustainable, and affordable energy. In her opening ceremony speech, Her Highness Sheikha Shamma bint Sultan bin Khalifa Al Nahyan, President and Chief Executive Officer of the UAE Independent Climate Change Accelerators (UICCA), stated, “The World Utilities Congress is quickly becoming one of the most important meeting places for the energy and water sectors in the world. The objectives of this highly significant event were designed to encourage global partnerships in the fight against climate change. Solidarity and collaboration worldwide are necessary to reach our net zero goals; and so we must take a long-term view and work together across borders to develop innovative solutions that pave the way to a cleaner and greener future.”

The three-day exhibition and conference held in Abu Dhabi, hosted by TAQA and organised by dmg events, gathered over 10,000 trade professionals and 120 exhibiting companies who sought to promote proactive measures to digitalise power and water systems, control emissions, and attract long-term capital investments.
