Daniel Baaklini is the Desalination Deputy Research Program Manager and Senior Expert at ENGIE R&I, the expertise branch of ENGIE Group.

Based in Dubai, Daniel focuses on the development, deployment and management of Research and Innovation projects, as well as providing operational support to desalination plants in the Middle East region.

After obtaining a Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering (Canada) and a Master’s Degree in Water Treatment Technologies (Sweden), Daniel has accumulated 15 years of experience in membrane-based water treatment, mainly in seawater desalination, brine valorization, and wastewater treatment/reuse.

Prior to joining ENGIE, he spent over a decade developing and testing new technologies and processes for EPC companies in Europe and the Middle East (Veolia and Suez).
