Bharat Narang

Former Associate Director
Nuclear Power Corporation of India Ltd

Bharat Narang is a veteran nuclear power professional with over five decades of experience in India’s nuclear energy sector. A graduate of the 1968 Mechanical Engineering batch from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Delhi, he further specialized in Nuclear Science and Engineering at the Bhabha Atomic Training School, Mumbai.
Mr. Narang served the Nuclear Power Corporation of India Ltd. (NPCIL) under the Department of Atomic Energy from 1969 to 2006. During this time, he played a pivotal role in engineering and procurement for various nuclear power projects, regulatory clearances, and commissioning support. He also held several leadership and advisory positions, including Chairman of NPCIL’s Documents Review Committee and Member of the Design Review and Licensing Committees constituted by the Atomic Energy Regulatory Board (AERB).
His international exposure includes specialized training at the Canada India Research Reactor and the Argonne National Laboratory (USA) through the International Atomic Energy Agency. He was also deputed to Japan to finalize and test prototype high-capacity canned motor pumps for Indian nuclear facilities.
Post-retirement, Mr. Narang served as Vice President (Projects) at SST India in Bangalore, and continues to provide consulting services to the nuclear power industry. His work includes technical reviews, documentation, and engineering support for nuclear projects.
He has authored and co-authored multiple papers on nuclear systems engineering and procurement and has contributed to several technical publications for NPCIL and the Department of Atomic Energy. He is a Life Member of the Indian Nuclear Society.
